I didn't realize they changed and moved the oil filter to under the motorcar.

It's why I was and so confused at the start. I'd find pictures of cartridges and so get filters for part numbers, and oye, the oil controversy! Between full constructed, synth alloy, and "it don't matter" I stuck with the DEXOS alloy equally recommended...

I have always used Dexos. It is what is recomended so it is expert enough for me.

I got a 2014 ii.0T FWD the first of December. I was planning on changing the oil in the adjacent couple of days because I had no idea what was already in information technology. I must have searched for twenty minutes looking for the filter since everything I read lead me to believe there was a canister on the acme

I somewhen looked underneath and duh, there it was...a bones carquest $i.69 oil filter . I went up to Napa and got a wix gold filter, and some Castrol Edge Synthetic w/ Dexos and did the oil change in record speed. Being able to fit the catch pan under the filter and drain plug at the sometime and the filter coming off straight downwards was great. Plus taking exactly 5 quarts, instead 4.? or 5.? was icing on the cake. Literally easiest oil change I ever did.

Thanks for posting pics, they will surely save someone else a good bit of fourth dimension.

It's why I was then dislocated at the start. I'd find pictures of cartridges and so become filters for office numbers, and oye, the oil controversy! Between full synthetic, synth blend, and "it don't matter" I stuck with the DEXOS blend as recommended...

If yous check the back of the bottle a lot of oils are "Dexos canonical" I believe. I've e'er used Castrol total synthetic in all my cars (Syntec which I judge is at present "Border"), and it has the green Dexos symbol on the bottle.

Dexos is a trademark that GM sells. If a manufacturer doesn't want to pay for the trademark so they can stick the pretty greenish stamp on their canteen, they may meet the specs and just say they are in compliance.

IMO, when in warranty I would utilize only the canonical versions. In one case out, just brand sure it was in compliance from a major manufacturer. When it comes to warranty, but employ dealers to make sure in that location is no question of maintenance on the auto....tin can make things easier.
